Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is combined with art, play, nature and animal based therapies to offer person centred sessions that are trailored to unique needs of the people she supports. Julie's focus is with children ages 5 years and older and youth but will also see adults upon request.
Heather Scott MSW, RSW
Heather specializes in somatic therapy, meaning the therapeutic process recognizes the body carries emotions and reactions. Somatic therapy is particularly helpful for individuals who are not prepared to directly discuss a problem or trauma, since the focus is not what happened, but how the body experienced what happened.
In addition to somatic therapy, Heather provides comfort therapy. Comfort therapy’s purpose is safety and connection through touch. This might look like guided self-soothing, or consensual, seated touch which may include holding, applying pressure, or touching the hands, arms, shoulders, back, or face. There is an emphasis on being attentive to body safety, cues, and boundaries. Comfort therapy is a beneficial for individuals experiencing loneliness, such as isolated adults, people with a chronic illness or disability, refugees or immigrants, and widowers. Note that comfort therapy is not considered a social work service, therefore it is not covered by health benefits.
Heather is accepting intakes for individuals 14+ for somatic therapy, and individuals 18+ for comfort therapy, beginning in October 2024.
